Ok... this is bugging me, but I need to know...
Every once in awhile I’ll have a dream where basically all I want to do in the dream is sleep. I've never really understood the reasoning behind this... is my body really just so tired that all my mind can think about while I’m sleeping is sleeping...? Despite it being a bit odd, the real problem with it is the fact that it tends to at some point lead to a case of sleep paralysis because I guess if you're sleeping in both dream and real life, your mind has problem figuring out how to respond to which... or whatever.
Does anybody else ever have dreams like this? |

I dream of sleeping, then being slowly awakened... then have a bout od sleep paralysis. Have to actually FORCE myself awake to get it to stop.
Not exactly the same thing I know... but odd none-the-less |

I don't know of anyone who has stranger dreams than I do.
I dream that I wake up and go about my routine, only to have something verrrrry weird happen to me, then I'm suddenly back in the bed really waking up. (Or am I?)
Also, I'll have a dream, then dream I woke up from it to tell someone in detail what that dream was. A dream within a dream. And then I really wake up. (Or do I?) |

Chef's right... it wasn't sleep paralysis... i was actually being abducted by aliens... and they didn't even lube the probe first!
Oddly enough though, being late for work was the premise of the last time this happened... i wasn't really late for work, i still had at least 2 hours left of sleeping time, but my dream state was for some reason telling me otherwise, and the sleep paralysis was making that all really complicated. i think i need a vacation... |

The Twilight Zone plot would have Cat realizing to her horror and Rod Serling's smirk that this whole Dream Forum, this whole message board, and everyone in it are also just a dream....
....just a dream....
....just a dream..... |

| I'd like to experience sleep paralysis but never have. Sounds like a good time. |

I have sort of. Strange. The times I remember, I was dreaming, and trying like hell to move, and all of a sudden, it was as if a light switch was thrown, and I wake up suddenly able to move. It was like exploding out of a chair after sitting perfectly still moving at top speed.
Had a dream last night, I can't make hide nor hair of. |

I've had lots of dream paralysiseses. In one, a bright light moved across the bedroom and stopped next to the bed, got very close to one of my eyes and then I blanked. OBVIOUSLY, I've had brain surgery, performed by an alien.
I fly (not real good at it), push through walls, deliberately change the plot of my dream, float through ceilings and up, and up, and up into space, hover above people while they're sleeping, meet ghosts, see UFOs, find myself naked in public places....
I've done it all. |

Are we still just talking about dreams?
Personally I'm happy just to be HAVING dreams again. Prior to surgery I can only remember having a few dozen dreams as an adult. I used to have awesome nightmares as a kid, but then they stopped when I hit puberty or so. |

Although... while we are on the topic of sleep paralysis and the jokes of alien abduction have been thrown in. has anyone actually had a case of sleep paralysis where they have the full "old hag's syndrome"... meaning, do you actually "hallucinate" that you're being held down by someone or something, and anything like that, and if so, what?
I usually sleep on my front, so when I have sleep paralysis like that I tend to get a feeling that I’m being held down by something... I can't every quite make it out other than it's just something out of view (basically it's holding me down from behind). It's actually pretty freaky until I’m able to force myself to rationalize and just wake-up. |

If you sleep on your back and you're being held down from your chest, that's the Old Hag.
If you sleep on your stomach and are being held down from behind, that's Bubba. |
