Two suggestions:
1. Make me the host for all new single female members. Require a picture with every new application and send them to me so I can pick and choose who stays and who goes.
2. Help me figure out how to post a fuckin' avatar! Maybe we need a technical stuff thread- I remember one being suggested a while back. I are not vurry good wit' da' tecknikal stuffs. |

What's the problem?
It's easy to get an avatar. Click "profile" and scroll down to the bottom of the page. There, you can upload one either from your computer or from a URL. |

| I think a tech forum would be good. There would be categories instead of one long thread covering everything. That way it would be easier to refer back to certain topics/issues if/when we need to. |

Do you have a program that resizes photos? If so, take it down to the number of pixels your profile instructions suggest. I can reduce it for you if you want.
Now tell me... how did you and Du post such huge avatars? Mine wouldn't post until I got it to the size it is now. I want mine larger so I can post a picture of my eyeball. |

Holy crap, is this thing huge... Holy crap, are we way off topic...
I have no idea how or why it's so big- it appears to be the same size as its original version.
My buddy here is helping me out on this. He suggested the same thing you did: send it to photoshop or some comparable thing and resize it. All this tech stuff is beyond me. |

Aha! Now I get it. Sort of.
In your profile, if you put the URL of your avatar in where it says "Link to offsite avatar", your avatar will be full size. If you put it in either of the other two places, you have to resize it.

The normal margin for the cell where the namespaces and avatars go is 174 pixels wide or so. 223's avatar is 284 pixels wide.
Resizing images is fairly simple. Quality-wise, MSpaint isn't very good at compressing images, but it's something about everyone has and is easy to use. Open the file or copy the image into paint, hit ctrl-w, and play with the stretch percentages until it looks right. Save and upload. |

Since almost everyone here is a Windows user, there is a quick and easy way to resize pictures without any extra programs. If you arent a Windows user, you probably already have a better way to do it regardless.
Go to the Microsoft Powertoys website at:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx
On the right hand side, in the border there are lots of cool tools you can download to give Windows some additional functionality. About halfway down get the one called 'Image Resizer'. Its a very small download, and once installed it gives you the ability to resize images just by right-clicking on them.
All you have to do is view the image file through your normal file manager (Windows Explorer, the same as when you look at any file). Select a single image or a batch of images and right-click. One of the new options among the rest (delete, rename, properties, etc...) will be 'resize image'.
Choose that, and it will give you the option to select a few different standard sizes. 640x480 makes a great size for displaying in posts BTW. You can also select a custom size, just hit the advanced tab and you can select the size yourself.
By default it resizes as a copy, so your original is left untouched. You will get a new image called "oldfilename_small". You can also choose to resize the original image, so you dont have two copies of the same image if you dont need the larger one. |
