I had a weird, small, inconsequential dream the other night. In my dream I broke my foot really badly while competing at a Highland Games and I had to have most of the bones replaced with titanium rods, and I had screws, springs, and hinges holding the whole thing together.
I remember seeing my foot as in an X-ray with all the metal parts, it even had some kind of powered piston at the ankle so it would flex correctly.
Everything worked correctly, but it was painful all the time.
In real life I have plantar fasciitis in that same foot that I have to take care with routine stretching or else it hurts all the time.
Nothing significant, just an interesting dream. |

I have the same problem with my right foot. I haven't dreamed of a bionic replacement yet, but I probably will now.
The other night I dreamed that a bear was on my chest and I couldn't breathe. I woke up to find Pearl sitting bolt upright on me, staring down at my face. |

Time to put Pearl on a diet.
With the PF I have learned it's just as important not to over stretch as it is to stretch in the first place. The best is when I put the ball of my foot on something raised like a brick or 2x4 and use that to stretch it. 30 seconds or so, a couple times a day, no more. Any more stretching than that actually makes it worse. |

I'm not sure what's going on with my foot, even though I've been to a foot doc. I know I have a heel spur as I saw it on an x-ray. I was also told I have PF, but I read that they are similar in pain but two different issues. Sometimes the pain feels like something stabbing the tendon running from my heel to my big toe, and supposedly that's not PF but a bone spur.
Either way, what works for me is to make sure I have really good arch support. Rolling a ball under my feet feels heavenly, and I try to keep my calf muscles stretched.
I suppose next will be a wheelchair. Motorized, of course. And fast.
I think I highjacked a thread... sorry. |

Not a problem. I'm talking about it too, so I guess it can't really be a hijack.
I had an X-ray for a bone spur too, but everything was clean. Mine is due to PF, which is a swelling of the connective tissue running along the bottom of the foot.
I know exactly what caused mine, I stepped on a nylon bone my wifes dog left laying around on the floor. Even though the injury is to the bottom of the foot the pain manifests in the heel. It feels just like I'm stepping on a sharp stone or something.
I tried rolling a ball under my foot, didn't seem to help me any. Stretching the calf and the bottom of the foot feels great, but again I have to be careful not to over stretch.
Driving is actually one of the worst things I can do. Because my foot is held sort of toe down, the plantar fasci tends to stiffen up in this shorter position which leads to pain on getting out of the car. |

I have 'bionic' foot and ankle (left foot tho, not right)... and yes, it hurts all the time. Not all it's cracked up to be.
I jokingly say now that I have more hardware than Home Depot |

This Saturday, while throwing the Heavy Weight for Distance (a 56 lb cannon ball on a chain) I rolled my ankle. Had I been wearing the cleats I planned to wear, and not the high top boots I actually wore I think I might have broken it, at least sprained it for sure.
As it was it's a bit sore and weak but the tight boot held the ankle stiff so it didn't flex as far as it could have. No hardware needed, but it does hurt. |
