The Quest for Glory series is my all time favorite series (other than the fifth installation, which just sucked). The only fly in the ointment had been that part two, arguably the best game story was only released in EGA with a type interface. The original had been released that way as well, but then updated to VGA and a point and click interface. Subsequent games all started out with in VGA and with the point and click interface, which made the game much more enjoyable.
Well, some volunteer designers took a lot of the old Sierra games and began upgrading them. They started with the Kingsquest series, but have been working on QFG2 for almost a decade now.
Finally, it's going Beta. I simply cannot wait for this game to be done. Or rather I can, after all I've been following this news for the last several years but the end is finally in sight! |

| I've tried playing the QFG series on GameTap, and it didn't really draw me in... i can't remember which one i was playing, but it was just losing me, i couldn't help but think that the game would have made more sense if i was tripping... |

I'm not sure which one that might have been. All of them are pretty similar. I'm also not sure how Gametaps iteration is, so that might have been the problem.
If you get the chance try playing QFG1. It's my personal favorite in the series, something I've played through well over a dozen times, probably closer to two dozen. You can go through as different character classes and get solve puzzles in different ways. That becomes even more important in later games.
You can also export your character from 1 into 2, and so forth. In fact when the full VGA version of QFG2 is released I'll be playing part one again and exporting that character. |
